These basses are waaay cool! I plugged into a MB Jeff Berlin... started out in passive mode cuz that's what I usually like and it all sounded great. switched to active and whoa!!! tons of tones in there. loved the all buttons out setting in active mode. bass was a good looking CAR with rosewood board.

there was also a 25th at the GC, but it was hanging up high and I didn't have the time to get to it. a nice SR HH on clearance too.

anyway, nice job on the AL!

Hey Jason, that's my fave setting on the Big Al too. All of the buttons out is the back two pickups in series - great tone.

The Big AL is great at first sight and does get even better if you spend some time with it. It does sound very good with the band too. I do really think about gettin the 'Even Bigger Al' when it gets available.

And yes, the series-setting makes a huge tone in active mode...

Hey Brad, that series setting is definitely a monster. and i love all those single coils. think the only thing preventing me from jumping on an AL now is that I want to compare to a 25th first once they hit regular production. we'll see.... maybe i won't be able to wait. Do you own a Big AL yet?

Yes and unfortunately no. I had a really great Big Al in Electric Blue but it was too heavy so I sold it. I'm currently on the prowl for a super light one.

.................In Electric Blue! Too bad it was so heavy................How much did it weigh? I know everyone's tolerance can be different, but usually much over 10 lbs kills the deal for most people! I have gotten rid of some real boat anchors in my day..................No EBMMs yet though! :)

Brad, that Big AL is wicked. The CAR one i tried was still about average Stingray weight. I'm sure there are light ones out there somewhere

The one I tried was also heavy. Great bass but the weight put me off too.

My old 92 Stingray is way heavier than the Big Al, not to mention the ash JB i also use sometimes. I am a big guy so i do not care about the weight that much. With all the electronics und the two batteries inside it is also quite obvious that it can not be as light as an all passive bass the same size.

The electric blue Al looks awesome too.

Big Al is, I think, next addition to the armada.
Played it a bit at NAMM, really kewl, even thru the demo "amps" there.
Can imagine what the bass can do thru one of my super-sweet rigs; tubes et al...

My .02...
One of my basses is an ***owsky; light as half of a feather!

Another is:

MAHOGO-BONGO!!!

from BPL!!

(I need a moment...)

OK.
So even tho one is light, and the other is...not so light;

I find that a good and well-adjusted strap, I prefer 3", and a good playing position combined with the proper strap adjustment; well, works for me anyway.

The

MAHOGO-BONGO!!!

(I need another moment)...

OK.

Don't feel a thing.

The time I spent with Big AL, the mass didn't make me no never-mind.

Then again, when I'm playing with my Balls (sorry, hadda do it!)

I get in the zone!

I apologize for that.
