Please advise...

I have a really bad fret rattle/ fret buzz on the open G string when I pop. Aside from this one problem, I have no other fret buzz on any other position, string, whether I'm slapping or plucking away. Only buzz on the open G when I pop...suspecting the nut is cut too deep? can anybody advise? Thanx in advance.

I'm not following. This happens when you "pop" the open G?...as in pulling the G string away from the fretboard and then letting go so that it violently smashes against the frets?

It's probably not a problem, but most of us are not experts and it is very difficult to troubleshoot on the internet.
It could be anything from a seasonal neck adjustment, saddle adjustment or a defective string. If you are not familiar with the adjustments, I too would suggest bringing it to your local EBMM dealer or repair man. It is likely just a routine adjustment.

thanx everyone for your help...I did speak to an EB rep.

No other string buzz or fret buzz indicated the neck relief was OK and saddles should be OK...

given my situation he suggested I hold down the G string on the 3rd fret and press down on the 1st fret to see if there is any "give"...if there is none, he suspects the nut is cut too deep and I should send it back...he did give a disclaimer that there are so many variables that it could be other things also, but given my description, he thinks the nut is cut too deep.

shucks...want to get this resolved since its still under warranty, however, i gotta pay for shipping to EB...they ship back for free but I gotta pay 1 way shipping...its a killer being here in Hawaii...
