Hi all, new to the forum and planning on picking up my first EBMM Axis. I am trying to find out about the serial number, date, location, etc. The s/n is G40587. Any help would be appreciated.

Also any suggestions/recommendations about making the switch would be appreciated.

I currently play a Charvel SoCal, Ibanez Prestige, and a PRS CE 24. I love the PRS, the neck, the tone and overall playability. However, I love the unfinished necks of the Charvel and Ibanez. And I am one of those nuts that prefers a locking tremolo system. How different is the Axis from the PRS as far as playability and tonal versatility? Also, I understand the Floyd was blocked against the body in the EVH is that the case with the Axis? Would you recommend upgrading the sustain block to brass?

Also, the headstock is not painted like the body, unfinished would grain. Is there any significance to this. Most of the Axis' I have seen have the headstock painted the same as the body.

Any opinions would be welcome.

Thanks,

Pete

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Regarding your serial number enquiry, I would recommend that you either head your thread "Serial Number Query" or place a post on the serial number sticky.

The Axis is a great guitar but as I have a hardtail EVH, I won't be able to help you with your trem query.

Somebody else will be sure to post a reply soon.

Let us see pictures of your Axis when you get it?
Cheers

To answer your last question, some EBMM guitars have headstocks that are painted to match the body, and some don't. There really is no 'significance' at all - it was made one way or the other.

Some players prefer the matching headstock, some do not, and some like it either way. I prefer the ones that match, but it's not a deal breaker if it doesn't.

Hey Pete,

Great choice!!

Yeah, if you like PRS (which I do too) you're gonna like the MM even more!

Anything you liked about the PRS (individual categories), is going to be a little bit nicer on the Axis.

Also, I really don't think there is a need to upgrade anything on it. You may want to have several different pickups on hand, to throw in and out on occasion, because it works well with just about anything/type of rock music.

Enjoy!:)

Thanks for the replies, I'll add serial to the post and thanks for the PRS comparisons, I really like my PRS, but it is looking like I'll have to sell it to pay for the Axis.

Thanks,

Pete

hey pete.
megaroel here i to switched from using jacksons select series SL1 great neck and feel all around but im a small dude you see im about 5'4 and my hands are a little challanged so i made the switch it just feels right. the unfinshed wood behind the neck should work at your advantage painted necks slowed me down. now my hands dont feel over worked.its a totaly new experince for me and my band. they notice that im not struggling with the jazz runs and long streches. hey but with the matching headstock it cost maybe about 1550.1680. 130.dollars more. gives it a better value in a trade or stage precences. peace dude.
