I have a Ampeg B-100R...the problem with combos is weight (you rather carry two ligher pieces or one heavy piece--I'd opt for two lighter pieces every time)

Also you have the option of buying a small cab and big cab for various gigs with the same head.

Plus I think the some of the separates just sound better.
