Well when hooking up my JP EBMM and using the piezo, my amp gets the hum whether or not the piezo is engaged or not. I know that that it could be that im not using a d/B witha ground lift, but i am, I actually tried 2 different ones. So heres how Im setup.

JPEBMM > Planet Waves Stereo Chord > Guitar in on EB Splitter Box > Piezo out to D/B> snake...Magnetic out direct to Mesa F-50. Im using sheilded chords, and also tried non-shielded. again the ground lift is doing nothing, nomatter which way I flip the switch it still buzzes. Any advice?

Hi Jeff

Try checking the earth wire - one of my EBMM JPs had a loose earth wire in the rear cavity which caused a similar problem (although it wasn't just on the piezo). Once I had securely grounded it the hum went. I also use a Planet Waves stereo cable but a Lehle amp switcher/splitter (which has its own ground lift built in).

Plus do you have a properly protected power supply or any CRTs/fluorescent lights/energy efficient light bulbs etc nearby that might be interfering.

the battery is new, where is the ground wire at for the peiezo pickup, I will check into that, thakn you...also, when I am running 1 cable out of the mono plug, where you can send both piezo and mags to the same amp, i have no buzz. Tomorrow I am going to check if the same thing happens when using 2 chords instead of one, and also try in a different area.

High Gain while having the piezo plugged in is something that happens. I solved about 90% of the hum by running the piezo through a DI box and lifting the ground.

I am running through a DI BOx with a ground lift, either way the lift is turned on or off, the hum is there and doesnt change.

Jeff,

I'd suspect the building wiring at this point. As I mentioned once before, there's a particular outlet in my drummer's house that I just can't use for my amp or I'll get massive hum. Other outlets on different circuits work fine.

(I use amp + piezo into DI with ground lift into PA system).

i know that problem and i am also looking to find a solution. grund lifts often dont work proper. ya can try a transformer isolated DI box. that shouldt help.

i discussed w/barber a bit bout that and he helped me out.

greetings from austria

Perhaps it's humming because it doesn't know the words??

Gets his coat to leave yet again....:D

one way to check for a ground conflict is to run an extention cord from the ac source that your f.o.h mixer is using.......to your boggie amp. this will put your amp on the same ground as the mixer. works for me 99% of the time.

I've found the same thing as Tommy. Sometimes, even when you have the ground lift, it doesn't affect anything until you run everything from the same AC supply.

That would be my first option in your situation.
