Plural of Axis

According to Webster's dictionary, the plural of Axis is: Axes! Whoda thunk?! A lazyboy beat out a fistful of the government's finest rocket scientists to find this answer. So, now when I say "go grab one of my axes," it has a more specific meaning.

I still prefer Axiseses, as in "I have many Axiseses, and I'm gonna get more!" ... or maybe Axi... but even if it is Axes, it must surely be pronounced AX- EEZ ?!?
