Hey guys I am brand new here. Been wanting a JP6 for a while but didn't have the coin. So I had a brainstorm. I picked up one of the OLP's when they were on clearance for $150 from Musicians Fiend. Then i installed a D-Sonic/Air Norton combo, also rewired the entire guitar. Added a switchcraft jack and switch as well as Dimarzio push/pull pots. Each pot acts as a volume for each pickup and splits the coils for each. Also added sperzels and graphtech nut and saddles. I cleaned up the frets some and it is now a pretty damn good player and sounds killer. It can do quite a lot of things with the coil splits. All for under $400. Well what do you guys think? Blasphemy? ;)

Sounds pretty damn good. I'll get the real deal one day. Probably will be a while before i make any big guitar purchases though. I got an expensive one about 8 months ago and the fiance' wants a wedding before any more major guitar purchases. This is the last big $ guitar I got.

Sweet, how do you like the Caparison? I always wanted one really bad but I don't think I can get away with the horn in church! hehe

Nice job on the OLP.

I was about to do the same but found my Sub 1 just before I put in my order. It took me down this road....now have the Spaceball 3000 to keep the sub company.

Dayum dude...nice job on the OLP. I wouldn't have even known how to rewire like you did. But yeah...save up and get a JP as your next axe. Mine's arriving in January!

We had an OLP in my friend's shop once. Just so happens that I had my JP6 that day. when I tried the OLP, it was a nice guitar. Not too badly made, and it delivered what you needed. But honestly, everyone else around me concurred: it was a FAR cry from the real thing.

Save up for a real JP6. Heh...

I never claimed it was anywhere close to the real deal but for a quarter of the price it works pretty well. As for the trem it is a copy of the Hipshot trem and actually is made pretty well. With the graphtech nut and saddles it stays in tune almost as well as my Floyded guitars. Even with a lot of trem abuse.

That's a pretty awesome job you did. I imagine it'll sound and play great. I actually had the same trem they use in another guitar I had years back, and with a GraphTech nut it always staid in tune real well and I didn't even have locking tuners on it...
Looks cool to me and like D K said - for the price, it's a killer on all counts !

Cool stuff, man !

I love the look of the bridge with the black saddles. Looks like something my hand would rest on very comfortably.

Not blasphemy at all; you've created a personalised axe that probably plays and sounds great. And it looks fantastic too.

I love mods, great effort fella :)

Thanks guys. It was a lot of fun doing it. With the price of the guitar I really had no worries about screwing it up. When I swapped pickups on my Caparison I was a nervous wreck hoping I wouldn't scratch it or drip solder or something on it. The OLP was worry free fun. :)

Well done! I envy people who can rather easily do all the mods on their guitars that they want to...
Cool player made to meet the player's specs and for under 400$ - thumbs up!
