So I’m off in never-never-land, playing away, really digging the tone I’m getting from my silo, when I realize I had accidentally hit the pickup selector to the mid (#3) position. Since then I’ve been using the 3rd position more and more. The EB wiring, unlike the typical strat configuration, activates the single neck and split bridge p’up, when in the 3rd position (for anyone who may not already know), and that brings out clear highs and lows with a tele vibe.. only better.

Do any of yooze use the 3rd position on your 5-way balls?

Bruce i was just about to go to bed, cant go to sleep now, thanks for that! Now i have to go check out the position 3 on my silo special.


edit- ive been twangin away on my AL using bridge/middle ( pos 2 or 4 is it?), gosh the AL sounds brilliant!

Hmm...nope! My AL has strat-style switching, so position 3 is middle PU only, and it sounds almost exactly like position 1 so I never use it. I'd like to get a switch that changes position 3 to that nice neck/bridge combo. The other 4 positions are all golden for their own thing.

Normally the morse does not have coil splitting, or am I wrong?
Do you have a mod?

The vol pot is a push/pull switch. When pulled, it splits the neck and bridge humbuckers. The bridge bucker is great on this guitar when split- very twangy.

The tone control is a dual pot. Bottom ring is standard tone, top ring is piezo volume. And lastly, the little toggle switch is for the piezo- mag pickups, piezo, or both.

As long as we're talking about position 3, I love the ASS' position 3 which activates all coils.

also the Silhouette Special in SSS config has only middle coil in the 3rd position. Only Silo Special in HSS config has this unique wiring
