Hi all, I am deciding if I should move up a gauge and go from 10's to 11's. I'm looking for something thicker, but I'm wondering if it is hard to bend on.

My question is, does anybody know if they are hard to bend on?

For example, is it easy to bend to high F from the 22nd fret?
Thanks :D

Just depends on your finger stregnth. Hard for some, eaxsy for others. Luckily guitar strings are hella cheap (inexpensive) so you can give them a try with little cash output.

Justin,

Yeah, a 25.5 in scale guitar, to begin, with has more tension (not much though) than a 24" or a 25", etc. . . The shorter the scale the less the tension.

The difference in string gauge however is a little different. Say from a 9 to an 11 (on any scale guitar) needs that additional finger strength to bend the same distance, in the same way, in the same amount of time, as with the lighter gauge string.

Since I play mainly 25.5 in scale guitars (mostly Axis) what I did over the years to compensate for the larger gauge was to use "finger weights" and a "hard handball", to build up my fingers (just like a weight lifter would do).

I customized my own set of weights from "fishing weights", and thru much trial and error (and frustration) I was able to get some good strength in my fingers, to help out when I use heavier string gauge.

Although, I still prefer 9's (Super Slinky Classic Rock n Roll).

:)
