I've read the FAQ on this site. My question is? Is the 2006 preamps in the Stingray 5 (1 PU) new? In the Ernie Ball Vid Clips, he says they had to tame the EQ in the Bongo 'cause is was so strong and being 18 Volt.
On thing I notice about my new Stingray 5H, which is good, is the bass and treble EQ has more range than the Mid knob. I don't hear much difference when turning the Mid from say 50% up to 100%. But I do hear a difference when it's Flat. So I can boost the Mid knob all the way up and it still sounds musical. My Ken Smith, If I go past half way boosting, it's way to much Honk and sound like crap.
And the reason why I ask if it's a new preamp is because My '99 Sterling, when I add bass just past the center detent, It's a huge boost. In my '06, I can boost it to 30%-50% and it doesn't bloat the sound.
