Preamp Problem on SR5

Hi all and Happy new year 2005!!

Today, I was just to start practicing with my SR5, I connected to the amp, and no sound :eek:

I change the line, no sound!!

I fixed removing the battery and returned again, like a power reset!! and there is sound :D

IS this are indication of low battery?

Anybody encounter the same issue?

Is this are flags for preamp trouble?

It could be the brand of the battery...some are slightly different in size although they look the same. They can cause problems with the battery compartment...either bad contact with the terminals inside or not being able to shut the compartment securely.

Try a "Duracell".

absolutely, this happened to me on the first session I took my SR5 to... thought I'd pop a new battery in but it wasn't a Duracell and didn't fit, I put in a Duracell and finished the day wonderfully.
one of the small whacky tweaks with the SR5 :cool:
 
I seem to recall using a non-Duracell battery once and just sticking a small piece of cardboard or something in the non-contact end of the battery compartment.

I might have been drinking, though, and it might not have been a Stingray.

This is not a good idea Jack. You will make contact, but when you put another battery in that may be smaller, the contact points in the battery box will have been bent out, and won't make contact

The drinking part is OK and as a repair tech, I reccomend it. BTW Happy new Year!

bummer.
i had to do this with my sr4 and sterling. i tried a bunch of new batteries, including new duracells, and none of them worked. the paper thing is the only thing i tried that worked
 
Try removing the battery holder with the door on it. You can remove it by taking the battery out, and pull up on the holder. Rock it back and forth while pulling up on it, and it will pop out. if the copper tabs on the holder look flat, GENTLY bend them in. Should fix the problem.
