Preamp replacement for SR5.

I want replace oryginal preamp in my 'Ray 5 and looking for good options for ceramic magnets or alnico V... what preamps you can suggest me? Maybe someone changed it in own 'Ray and tell me something more? Oryginally I have 3-coil ceramic pickup and new one from Seymour Duncan (SMB-5a).

different doesn't always mean wrong, might just be going for a slightly different vibe in his SR5 is all.

Which ever preamp you decide to go with, DO NOT part with the original. Keep it around in case you ever want to go back. Most people do wind up returning to the original preamp.

Different doesn't always mean wrong, but it certainly helps to know what he doesn't like about the current preamp before anyone has a chance of making a suggestion for something different.

IMHO oryginal preamp (or pickup) gives me to much wrong kind of midrange tones (I mean exactly what I write). I'm looking for something what gives me good midrange (I mean selectable with other instruments in band).
Now I use copy of sansamp GT2 with Kings'sX preset and it 's what I want. It reduce wrong kind of midrange from 'Ray electronics (it doesn't mean reduce all midrange only change character of it) I always use series mode coils for better attack (parallel has to much contour like me). I've hope you can understand me now and smoothly suggested me what should I choice.

No matter what you change out,it's still going to have that MM vibe. I'd just try another bass.

I'm not a huge fan of Seymour Duncans (Nordstrands are much nicer) but what has been my experience is that an 18v version of the Aguilar OBP-3 compliments the SR5 really well.

i prefer the orignal preamp but, a close second is a bartolini. i have a bart. pre amp in a stingray, it's cool........ but different. i like it better than the seymoreduncan (which i have also). the guy on top has a point you might be looking for a 18v pre amp. to install it requires modification on the bass body. (so, if you don't like it your stuck with extra holes in your bass). if you want to check out the bart lakland uses them and to check out the 18v pre, the bongo is your best bet. the bongo is reeeeeaaaaallllly coool.

I'm going to leave this thread here but close it to avoid further comments that don't belong here. The truth is, aftermarket recommendations (Nordstrand, Seymour Duncan) should be investigated on an open forum like Talkbass.

Ernie Ball Inc pays for this forum and it is specifically for Ernie Ball Music Man products, which don't include aftermarket replacement parts. No problem, I'm sure you didn't know, but it generally leads to heartache when I leave these kinds of threads open.
