What is it? Can someone post an example(s)? And does it cost extra

"quilt top" is what they call the crazy wavey looking tops like in this pic here:

compare that to this:

those pics and many others in the "offical pics" sticky thread

im pretty sure its extra ...

So I would have to guess that this is a normal Sunburst quilt

And this is premium?

Anyone know pricing details?

To be honest...$500 is not a bad price for that type of quilt top. I have seen them run much higher with the same grade. You get what you pay for. My buddy who builds handmade axes thinks EBMM's pricing is more than reasonable. But, if you do not get the "Premium Top" you are still getting a killer guitar. It's just a win win situation in my opinion.

i meant i liked the first one in the two pictures better. which i guess is the standard one. the premium one in those two i dont like so much. but thats me.

I personally think $500 is a lot, but if you want a guarantee of a stunning top, then what the hell, I think it's worth it. If I really wanted a special guitar, I'd consider paying that bit extra

I had a shop here in TX quote me the upcharge at $300 for an Axis that I was thinking about ordering... Is it $500? Probably, but the shop may have eaten the other $200 (but I don't know where, because the base price was great, too!).

I'd jump on it then if it is what they said it is. Killer base plus some $$$ of the premium top....just make sure you get that in writing! ;)
