Price differences US - Germany

hi there,

I´m interested in the JP 6-String model, so I went to my dealer (I´m from germany) asking how much it would cost....well, after that i got a lil shocked.

JP - with piezo - with matching headstock - blue pearl -> [cost more than i expected] <street price edit >!!!

So how much do you guys in the US spend for this model?

If you search the threads there is a at least one thread on this subject. I experienced the same in Norway - approximatly twice the cost. I think the UK guys are in the same boat also.

To briefly state what was said - most if not all is the distributor (sales people, importing, warehouse, insurance, etc. etc.). In the US EBMM deals with the music stores direct, and Europe is handled by various distributors.

Some distributors will tell you their suggested retail price, in case you want to make sure the dealer isn't ripping you off.

I was just curious how much such an axe would costs in the US, sorry for that I´ve read the rulez now sir

But the price of 2775€ is the official price of the german distributor.

hallo bierschinken,

ich hatte bis vor kurzem das gleiche problem... am besten du schaust dich hier im forum nach günstigen gebrauchten um. ich habe das jetzt eine zeit lang gemacht und endlich das gefunden was ich gesucht habe.... eine luke - der neupreis beträgt rund 2200-2300euro (bei meinem händler 100% nicht unter 2000 zu bekommen wurde mir versichert) für eine neue mit matching headstock. habe die luke über ein forummitglied - die gitarre kommt mir mit versand und zoll etc. auf 1200euro (somit 800euro billiger). die gitarre ist im april06 gebaut worden und somit so gut wie neuwertig. sollte sie bald haben - ich würde dir das gleiche empfehlen (zahlt sich wirklich aus). wenn du glück hast kannst du über ebay welche ersteigern, dort gehen ab und an günstige weg... hier bin ich mir aber sicherer da die leute hier eben die liebe zu musicman gitarren verbindet! ...in diesem sinne...

hi, klar kann ich das verstehen... allerdings sind mm´s die gerade mal ein paar monate im einsatz waren (und aus einem wohlbehüteten umfeld stammen) einer neuen absolut gleichzusetzen... allerdings gehört ein wenig glück dazu so eine zu finden, ich suche schon lange und bin nun endlich fündig geworden. es ist halt immer die frage wie viel man ausgeben will...

Jau...das ist eben der Punkt, wieviel möchte man geben.
Ich hab ja selbst ne Custom ESP für gaaanz billich aus 2ter Hand in absolut neuem Zustand ergattert.
Aber die EBMM soll halt i-wie was besondres sein...weiss auch nich warum

Yes, correct. As I said the prize is taken from the homepage of Musik Meyer, the german distributor.

It´s just crazy to see such hugh differences...you pay nearly twice the american prize. Okay, I recognize there are shipping costs and taxes which make em cost more but not that much.

die differenzen sind beachtlich. ich habe so eine JP wie du möchtest damals aus USA mitgenommen und kaufe meine gitarren generell nur mehr in USA.
die preisdifferenzen sind:
vertrieb
zoll
mwst
versand
mein hauptproblem: kein händler hat was lagernd! und wenn ich die katze i sack kaufen muss dann kann ich das in USA auch.
also
nur mut. mail ein paar händler an (offiziell dürfens dir nix verkaufen) oder wart auf eine schöne gebrauchte (verstehe aber deinen einwand bei gebraucht ;-))

Agreed....shipping is about $100 per instrument insured and taxes are approx 22% (VAT + DUTY) when the instrument enters the UK......so doesn't exactly equal a 200% mark up by UK/European distributors.....its about time we all payed a similar price for the instruments we love and then maybe we oculd buy more of them.....I rarely if ever by in the UK now (except for the Dargie because I had no choice) and usually always source my guitars from the US, get the seller to mark it a gift with zero value declaration for customs, and then the bastids at customs and revenue here in the UK can't do a damn thing about it......hell at $100 shipping it s nearly as cheap as shipping from mainland UK to Northern Ireland!

Its a shame so many have to buy guitars like this......I don't know who's fault it is.

So yes, I here ya'll and sympathise........when the new Luke and JP come sout I'm ordering in the Us and gonna get a flight over at about £300 stay for a holiday and fly back with them.......and that will still be cheaper than buying in the UK.......and I get a holiday out of it!

Jo das mit der Katze im Sack ist halt so der Punkt...bei EBMM bin ich aber zuversichtlich dass man immer eimn gutes Instrument bekommt. Zumindest habe ich bisher nicht von Serienstreuungen wie bei anderen Herstellern gehört.

Dann werd ich mich wohl mal durch sämtliche US Shops fragen müssen...
