Hey Guys,

I played my Bongo through an ampeg cab yesterday and it sounded so good that i think i now want to buy one. I tried it out with an Ampeg head (forgot the model) and was actually a bit dissapointed. I then tried it out with my old Trace elliot Ah400sm and it sounded Awesome.

The question is, how much would you pay for an Ampeg cabinet SVT-410HLF? Seeing as though i am in Australia this is mainly targeted towards Australian members. The guy from the music store quoted me $2100, which i am assuming is their regular music shop deal, nothing really spectacular.

Rhys,

I'd definitely be emailing bassnw.com or basscentral.com for their best price. On the bigger SWR cabs their prices including shipping and GST were still a couple of hundred bucks cheaper than the best prices in Australia. For example, Bass Central list the 410HLF for US$979, which with shipping and GST would probably work out around AUD$1700-1800. Both stores ship to Australia regularly, and they will give you an email quote very promptly.

Will do,

i had a look at some SWR prices today at Allens in the city. However i really do not like their service, so i doubt i will be getting anything from their. But the SWR cabs seem to be cheaper than the Ampeg's. Is this just the name, or do you reckon there are any quality differences, or is it just a personal taste thing?

It's really a personal taste thing. SWR is built every bit as well as Ampeg. I test drove both brands when I was cab shopping a couple of years ago, and I just preferred the SWR sound. The solid metal speaker grille on the SWR compared to the cloth grille on the Ampeg was another selling point for me, in terms of durability and protection from falling mic stands etc.
