hello.. I have a ebmm jp6 mystic dream.

I'm having a problem with frets on this guitar. Whenever I play a note with vibrato for more thatn 7~10 sec, it feels like the string is wearing away the frets. Also, it makes vibrato sound rough.. it only happens to high frets. It's kinda hard to explain what's happening but please help me out! T_T

I was wondering if some work needs to be done on frets? like..dressing..refretting.

I bought this guitar as a second hand and the guitar's from 2002.

Thanks for reading! :)

Maybe the previous owner didn't play much up on the higher frets.

I suggest you give it a while and play it in.

Do the frets look rough?

If they do, rather than have the frets filed/redressed, you could mask the neck
cut through the tape to expose the fress and then
give them a polish with 0000 wire wool or 3M equiv.

Just my 2d !

Thanks for the reply!

the frets have some traces of strings being pushed into them. <-wonder if im describing it right.. :( so I assume they look rough.

I could try your way of polishing the frets. It sounds like redressing in some way haha.

Thanks for your help tho.

Agrees that playing awhile smooths the frets. I use a product called Flitz to polish frets. Doesn't wear them down like sandpaper or emery, but it smooths them with a glass finish. 0000 steel wool will also smooth them nicely.

I know what ya mean ha! but when I see my buddy doing a fret job he takes a file or
a diamond stone and levels the frets first then he re profiles them then polishes them. I suggest you just polish them first rather than having them filed. or do as candid has said.

Any way, don't fret about it - it'll get sorted ;)
