I own a Trans Teal Lefty Axis Super Sport w/maple fretboard, which I purchased new in April of this year. I own 14 other Left Handed guitars and play them on a rotating basis. When not in use my SS in kept in it's factory case and kept in a closet with the rest of my guitar collection. I have not played the SS for a couple of months (sorry) and when I took it out today I noticed that the neck was so backbowed the the strings were touching directly on the frets making it unplayable. Fearing the worst, I took my SS to Hoffman Guitars in Minneapolis, a highly respected guitar maker and repair shop. The head tech at the shop looked at the SS and said "I hope your guitar is still under warranty because I think it is too backbowed to be straighted by truss rod adjstment alone." He gave it a try and with a couple of turns, the neck is playable again. I was relieved, but still concerned. What caused this in the first place? I have 12 other guitars in the same place and they seem to be fine. Are the necks on the Music Man Axis guitars more suppceptable to temperature extremes? Should I have the guitar sent back to the factory to get checked out? What are the factory specs for the neck, so I can make sre I gets restored to it's original factory settings? I am very happy that the tech got the neck popped back inot shape, I am concerned this could be an on going problem. Any and all input appreciated.
