I should be fine ... I am still in e great dilemma whether I should use a transparent pickguard and red pups (DiMarzio) with red knobs and esthetically arranged cables or find a pickguard with blueish/purpleish reflection and put in either the 498T/490R combo (nickel) or the PAF Classics (nickel). I guess that's the ONLY 'problem' left.

I am contemplating putting stainless steel frets also ... Tough to do at home I heard?!

It certainly appears that what I did to the poly finish is impossible to repair without visible damage. I am very sad and also very mad that I listened to a 'pro' advice ... again. I am heading for 3-4 drops of the same clear in the particular spot and after that let it cure for 5-6 days and wet sand again. I also decided to shoot another 3 coats of poly after this problem is resolved and wet-sand for a final time.

Suggestions? If somebody knows how to deal with that kind of problem, feel free to suggest!

This is where it all stops!

Hello. The title says it all. I did drop some poly on the 'spot' and it looks like it masked it 80% (as what you'll see in the photos). I decided to buff it and assemble it and play it for a while until I figure whether it responds to my ergonometrical requirements and most importantly pursue the tone that I'd expect to be a very good match for THIS type of guitar. Then I'd most likely dig some more and add more poly so make sure that the uneven parts of the body are done properly. Quite honestly I think I had enough chemicals in the last 3 days so the decision to take a 'break' wasn't spontaneous.

I also hoped that I'd be able to bring it to as close as 98% of requirements and then present it to right people with a hope of reissuing the model and applying much more important concepts within the industry. Of course, thinking out loud.

I shall submit photographs of the assembled guitar very soon. Thanks again!

Thank you! Unfortunately I had to depend on other people for equipment, space and advice so I am NOT happy with my result But I've learned quite a bit for designing, shaping and painting instruments so all that is what I really care the most. Next one would be much better although I could still scuff and reapply poly and then make mirror-like even. We'll see ...
