i don't know of anyone actually endorsing the axis currently. but i see the occasional rockband with decent instrument tastes playing one.

Vinnie Moore is one of the most visible Axis users I know, tho' his main guitar is still a heavily customized Silhouette Special. Rumour has it that Blues Saraceno has been seen wielding an Axis of late, too... And doesn't a guitarist in the Mighty Bosstones use Axes?

Actually Shnook, I haven't seen any pics... a co-worker of mine did a south'n'west coast tour over a few weeks last year with a couple of buddiesand caught Blues someplace and told me "he was playing a guitar like yours, a yellow one" or something to that affect, and I presumed Axis, 'cause most of my guitars are Axes, and logged the tidbit away... but I guess now from what you say he must've meant my AL, which is funny when you think about it, because the AL sure doesn't resemble any of Blues' old sig. guitars, but the Axis is damn similar to his Samick signature model... Maybe EB should sign him up as an endorser?!?

A long time ago I saw a Music Man poster in a music store of Eddie Steve and Albert. That was the only time I saw that. I asked if I could have it and they said no. They never even gave me a chance to steal it. With all of the crap sold on ebay you would think that one would come up. I would really love to get one of those.

One musician that I know who uses a lot of different Ernie Ball guitars is Neil Zaza. They are displayed on his site. He gives information about each.

http://www.neilzaza.com/gear.html

Anyone who's unfamiliar with his music should check him out. He put out 2 Christmas CD's of instrumentals that just kill. His other CD's aren't too shabby either.

I would LOVE for EBMM to do a Blues Saraceno signature model. I've got two of the Saraceno Samick's, and both are pretty cool. I love the body design. Could have been a really cool guitar had it been made in the USA with USA parts, a la EBMM.

Jimi D,

Maybe your buddy was thrown off by the headstock on the guitar Blues was playing. The Axis and the AL look the same from a distance. Or who knows, maybe Blues was using the Axis. He doesn't seem to stay with one guitar for long. It's just the few pics I've seen of him the last year or so had him playing the Gold AL.

Blues Saraceno Is a Ernie Ball endorsee. He also said he wanted a custom guitar to be built so we made him the Al with the Humbuckers and special neck shape(big clubby neck profile)
At the same time we made Dweezil's guitar with a similar set up(Baby Blue Sparkle)and piezo. Lisa Loeb has a Pink Sparkle we made for her in 2001 with a pink mirror pickguard.

Derek,

Thanks for the info on Dweezil and Blues' Albert Lee models. I know their friends and it seemed they started playing their custom AL's around the same time. Thanks! And of course Lisa's would have to be Pink! ;) I've not seen any pics of that one though.

You know, this is a little off topic, but long before I played Music Man guitars, there were certain people that I totally respected and whose music really inspired me. Some of the top ones on the list were Tony Levin, Dweezil Zappa, Steve Morse, John Petrucci, Lisa Loeb, Eddie Van Halen and Steve Lukather. There were others, but when I first started playing exclusively Music Man guitars, I was blown away by the creativity and talent associated with this brand of instrument. Three of my top twenty albums are Automatic, Firecracker, Images and Words and Pieces of the Sun. Not to mention all the Peter Gabriel that fills in my top ten!

Anyway, I am sorry about the digression, but as I heard Derek talk about those people it just reminded me how much I like the whole EB empire. So continue on with this splendid topic and pretend that I didn't so rudely interrupt it.

Sorry.

peter71,

I'm right there with you. I know exactly what your talking about.
A huge list of my favorite musicians use or have used EBMM products and I'm sure there's a very good reason for it. As of yet, I don't own anything made by EBMM other than strings, but hopefully by summers end, I'll have a nice Albert Lee model to call my own.

Back to the topic though. I was at the Charlotte NC Guitar Center this weekend and they had a HUGE poster of EVH playing his EBMM guitar in the front window. Too bad they only had one Axis and two Petrucci's inside. I was so hoping to try out a AL. Anyway, the poster was very cool.

Oh sure, for Blues and Dweezil you'll fix up the custom jobbies, but will you build a Luke with an Axis neck profile for me? No-oo-oo-oo-oo...

Oh, the injustice of it all... :p

The rich and famous will always be treated differently, than the regular Joe on ths street! No one bothers with an average person, there's nothing in it for them. It's the "What can I get for me syndrome".

Well, there *has* been a little talk of a custom shop, so let's keep out fingers crossed and tell Derek and Jon how much we love them and what a great job they're doing!
