In the video interview, he also talks about how much he loves the cobalt strings. He's had a long standing relationship with EB. Sterling has always spoken very highly of him.

I've met Steve twice. Once at a CD signing and one other time for some GC contest (don't remember the details). Both times he was very approachable and extremely kind. A truly nice person who you could tell is just an all around good guy. I'll keep supporting him as long as he keeps making albums. BTW, he's got a new one coming out next TUESDAY!!!! :D

I also had by similar experiences with Joe Satriani - a very down to earth and just really nice guy. It's comforting to meet some of your idols and have them turn out to be good people too. :)

I've never seen him live, but the guy's an absolute machine (with a soul). I'm still debating getting EVO tickets for this September... They're 350$ before tax and I'd need a hotel + flight etc. Geh. The guy's awesome, no doubt.

An old roomate dragged me to one of his show's once (yes, dragged). He was playing with Mike Keneally....and another really young guy. It was the most entertaining muiscal show I have ever seen. We did meet him briefly outside his tour bus and he was nice enough. If you haven't seen him live......do it!

I actually got a ticket to see him in Ridgefield, CT next month. I haven't seen him live for some reason since roughly 1994 or 95 when he played Tuxedo Junction in Danbury. Why do I remember that gig so well? It severely damaged my hearing for years. No joke.

When I saw G-3 with Yngwie in the lineup at the Beacon I was hanging in the lobby and noticed this little old lady there lol. She was by the door to go in so I said to her are you here to see the show and she says yes my son is playing and right at that moment the door opened and Vai came out and kissed and hugged her-it was his mother. She stood for the whole show and appeared to be very into it.

I saw him when he was with David Lee Roth. That was absolutely the loudest concert that I've ever been to. Vai and Sheehan made a stellar team and put on a memorable performance.
His "Live in Astoria" DVD gets a lot of plays here. I'd love to go see his current tour.

He is a wonderful man. I had the opportunity to meet him awhile back at one of my local guitar stores. Very down to earth. Even did a small clinic there, can't remember all of the details. I am excited to say that I have tickets to see him next month in Milwaukee, WI. Can't wait.

His technique and knowledge of the fretboard is truly frighting. I read an interview with him once where he was talking about hearing a song on the radio he liked and had the whole song solo and all transposed in his mind=scary.

He is a genius with music. I wish I had an ounce of his ability not only to play guitar, but to write and transcribe songs like he does. A true master of the art.
