Sterling 2006 HS Ash / maple---I currently have Rotos on this bass but what I would like to know is what strings/ guage are recommended for this bass? I don't know what strings were on it at GC. It was in the store for 4 years--amazingly it's not beat up from that-- I brought the bass home and quickly changed strings--I've been using Rotos forever but I'm thinking maybe I need nickel steel or whatever--don't know so I'm asking the well informed EB MM community--Thanks

The rotosounds are likely to damage the frets, put on a set of slinkys and your bass will love you for it.

Thanks--I went to the store and purchased a set of Hybrid (orange pack) 45-105 because he didn't have the Slinky pink 100's.
I'm so used to hearing a certain kind of bass and when I hear the MM with the rotos I'm noticing a difference--but hearing that difference I'm hoping to determine what I allready may or may not know----The question is : will the bass sound be better with the rotos or EB"S? Right? I have yet to string up the EB's but I'm betting the bass will sound pretty much the same, which is pretty freakin' good. I'm always trying to optimize performance without buying parts.
It doesn't bother me if the rounds eat the frets a bit. That's the price for the "RING GUT" sound I'm willing to pay. Anyway this could all be in the fact that I'm not used to the controls on the bass yet--so the experiment continues.

I want to use the preamp and eq and push it as hard as I can without hitting the "cut" switch on my amp. Strings are where I start I guess. Give me about a year! HA! :D
