I went to Guitar Center yesterday to try out a Sterling just to see how it is different from the Stingray. I was considering partial-trading a Sterling for my 1979 fretless Stingray.
Turns out GC had an early 30th Anniversary Edition Stingray still hanging and really wanted to move it out the door. The last thing I need is another bass, but my goodness, this is one of the best-playing instruments I have ever played. One very nice deal later, I have yet another Stingray.
I do not think I have been so happy with a bass before, except perhaps when I bought a 1967 Rickenbacker 4005 for $225. This is one delightful instrument. Thanks EBMM for fusing the best of old and new designs! It is beautiful and it plays oh-so wonderfully.
Unfortunately, a now-fired GC employee sold the 30th anniversary case before the bass, so I am on the prowl for one.
Any tips on locating another would be appreciated.
