While I was away from my basses and only could think about my basses and I thought I’d try a few different things.
I’ve got four Sterling’s so I can spare a couple for experiments….
First, I put a set of flats on the Vintage Sunburst. They are still a little zingy, but with a small EQ adjustment this thing is a different bass now. This setup run thru the B-18-N is a round, smooth and punchy but in a different way. I really like this sound, now if I can just get used to the feel…
Second, I liberated four strings from a five string set and tuned the Black Sterling to BEAD. This will take a little getting used to but I already like it. The B string works great and I haven’t changed anything setup wise. I will have a closer look, but it sounds great.
I plan to put a set of flats on one of the Bongo’s and maybe tune one of the fivers to EADGC… I’ve lost my mind!
… but having a good time.
