is there any value in the olp knock off SR5's? cause alot of the songs im playing at the moment i have to D tune (or even drop C) to play them.

do the OLP SR5 basses sound alright?

I think it depends what you're comparing them with. They're good basses for the price and suit people buying at that price range. You might want to look at the SUB5 which would be more like the bass you're used to.

what would be a rough guess at the Australian price of a SUB5?

Still pretty expensive,
I know allens and places like that are selling them for the 1500 mark.

You can always look at getting one of those tunning pegs that at the flip of a switch changes it to drop D Tuning. Or learn to play the songs on the B string?
