I'm on my third pack of Ernie Ball Pure Nickel Super Slinky's, and I really do love the sound. However, this is the second time, that my D string unraveled while I was playing right by the bridge.

I'm using a Schecter C1-Classic, is it possible the Tonepros bridge is the cause of this?

If stop-tail is what I think it is, then no, I do not believe my guitar has that. It's a "standard" tonepros bridge setup. Here is an image where you can see the bridge of the guitar. Hope it helps.

Ok...That is a tune o matic style bridge. If the strings are breaking at the saddle, there could be a rough spot or burr on the saddle. you can buy good replacements. I think Graphtech (SP) makes good ones. If the strings are breaking behind the bridge, try our RPS strings. They are double wound at the ball end and that might take care of the problem. I hope this helps.

Thanks, they're breaking at the saddle, it's only the D string, and it simply just unravels. I'm going to inspect the bridge and see if there are any rough spots as you mentioned. Thank you for the response.

try flossing the groove of the offending saddle w/ 600 grit sandpaper...then again w/ 1000 grit....to smoothly round off all edges.......then apply a drop of nut sauce by Big Bends.
to floss...cut a piece of sandpaper to 1" by 3" ......fold it in half longways.....and use the knife like edge to get down into the saddle groove.
hope this helps......

Same Problem

I'm having the same exact problem with Ibanez GAX30, I know it is my first guitar and it isn't anything great, but this becomes a pain when they break anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending. Only the E, A, D strings break, the ones wrapped/wound, not the G,B,e strings. Well those technical terms aren't too good, but my strings break on my bridge... just take a look: Here

Thanks,
Knox
