Hey peeps! Guess what? I found a left over purple Axis! It will be in from Ottawa next week! Just wanted to share the news. A quilt top with a Floyd. All it needs is a D-tuna and I'm set!

I've played that guitar - it's the one from Long & McQuade, right? It's been hanging in the store since they openned two years ago, so be sure to get new strings and a setup with the purchase, 'cause the last time I played it it was really suffering from neglect... Nice guitar though- I've been tempted by it a couple times, but the quilt isn't exactly pronounced - in fact, it's really tame. Hope you like it when it arrives! :D

Holy crap! It is from Long and McQuade! Can't believe it man! Small world, huh? :p I'm actually glad it's a tame top. Not that I dislike the heavy quilted tops, I prefer them to be a little more subtle! Thanx for the heads up!

My Axis just came in today! What a sweet axe! I should be picking it up tomorrow morning! They are setting it up and putting on a fresh set of Super Slinkys!

Thanx guys! I'll post pics soon! It's amazing, it looks plain purple untill you hold in the right light to see the figure-ing (sp?) in the wood! One small, but very sad thing is there is a tiny pin hole mark in the clear coat by the toggle switch.  Think there is any way to fix this? I don't think I did this. When they gave me the guitar it was very dirty and I just spent hours cleaning it! I almost fainted when I saw the scratch. On a lighter note it sounds and plays like a dream! It is waaay better then the Wolfgang! I can't believe the difference in tone and playability!

I know how you feel. About 3 days after I bought my axis I noticed a small chip in the clearcoat near the upper bout. It is pretty small, and can only be seen from the right angle in the right light, but it still ticked me off.

My advice is to learn to live with it. If you are not an expert, you can make it a lot worse by trying to fill it in or polish it out. If money is no object, then a professional might be able to help you out.

Thanx man, glad I'm not the only one. I went to the store and the guy gave me 4 packs of SuperSlinkys, so that was at least a nice try to make me feel better about it. It's not noticeable unless I point it out and you have to look pretty hard.
