I don't recall there ever being a purple Bongo. Has there been? Is purple the new green? Is it time for a purple Bongo?

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got a new Bongo.... I need time to recover.

I know. I recently got my PDN Bongo and I wish I had ordered two. :)

I got a lined fretless 5H. Now, I would also like a fretted 5H. The PDN's are so nice but that's not an option.

Next NE GTG, we will shoot out PDN Bongo 5H & PDN Sterling 5 HH... should be sweet!

Is that a bass player thing, or are the guitar guys also invited???

It's usually a bass player thing but we have let a drummer or two attend. One or two guitarists have attended in the past. If you don't mind lots of guys thumping and playing loud (I usually have to go outside or another room) then you're welcome to attend.

I was thinking about having Marty Bell do a crazy metalflake burst on a Bongo as my next "custom" Bongo project. I figure a black (or stealth if you wanted black hardware) Bongo could get away with just having the body done in metalflake, leaving the neck black. Of course, having a matching gloss metalflake neck would be the height of Bongo extremeitude.

Instead of waiting for Musicman to do a crazy color, it's very easy to have one done in any color you want for about $300 (body only). I don't ever plan on selling either of the Bongos I've modified, so resale isn't a concern. And, they are both over 8 years old, I'm not concerned about a warranty repair, either. So, there are a couple of things to think about.

But, I wouldn't give up the Billy Bass or Tobacco Moby for anything. And, don't worry--even I'm not crazy enough to do anything to the Dargie.

there's another brand bass I've seen on another forum, recently built, purple sparkle with gold hardware (and LEDs, of course, for dots). Talk about the "Full Cleveland".

way back when Dargin posted the "automobile colors" that they were evaluating, I do remember a pearly purple that would just look killer in a Bongo, but with black hardware, methinks.

I'd definitely dig a purple with some metal-flake or sparkle to it...

Ebony board - yes indeed!

And, IMHO, there's no place for gold hardware. :)
