I would love to get my Axis to have coil-splitting with a push-pull pot. Could any of the folks here who did this mod chip in some recommendations as to which pots to get, and other details to consider? Much appreciated!

500k audio taper. I can't remember the brand of the pot...I just bought it at a local music store. Very, very, very easy mod to do and quite worth the effort. While I was at it, I changed the knob to a "tone" knob. :)

They aren't usually the same, unless you're just looking at the cheapest ones. I get Dimarzio pots if I can, they feel different than other brands. They are a bit more expensive too. Cheaper push/pulls wear out easier, and the shaft can start to become loose, so the knob starts to wiggle a little.

I like that it has a ground lug at the bottom of the switch case

No. When the switch isn't engaged it's out of the circuit (if you wire it up correctly). As far as the pot goes ... there's no tonal effect from it, provided the value is the same (keep in mind they're all +/- a bit).

Oreit folks, I got a DiMarzio 500k Audio taper push pull pot the other day, and had the tech at Berklee install it (got it nicely done within 2h of me dropped the guitar off, and cheap). Had to go the tech route as I have no soldering iron and barely any memory of how to solder anymore.

What can I say, it's very cool. The bridge split is a little ice-picky, but useable. The neck is very tele-esque and snarly, but becomes warmer with rolled down volume. Definitely a keeper. Oh and yea, there is the 60 cycle hum ;). The two singles combined are off-phase (?) and the 60 cycle hum is basically gone, nice detail.

Just to repeat an old statement again, coil splitting indeed is not quite like true single coils, but close enough and useful. Gives the Axis a whole new dimension to play with.

As a detail on the side, in single mode the coil with the regular pole pieces is engaged, not the one with the adjustable ones. Never had thought of which one would be the single.

Thanks for the input guys!
