I took the APS2 bridge pickup out of my Albert Lee and swapped in a Seymour Duncan Twang Banger. Now in positions 2,3 and 4 I have a terrible buzz/hum. I wouldn't think there is anything special about the Twang Banger that would cause me to have to reverse the polarity of the middle pickup, but maybe I DO need to do that. Might that fix my issue do you think? There is no hum in the bridge pickup or neck when in position 1 and 5.

Ok, so you have a Silent Circuit? And the ground from the TB goes to the blue wire and not the violet (along with the ground from the neck p'up)? Also- make sure there's no wire from the p'up ground to the baseplate. It's usually there but you don't want it with the SC.

Can you post a pic of the wiring?

It is silent circuit and it is wired as you posted above, BUT there is a wire from the black wire on the PUP to the bridge plate. Hmmmm..... I will try removing that and see if that works. Thanks for the tip!

I will post back later.

Beej you rock! I removed that wire and issue resolved! It makes total sense too. This is my 1st EB w/ SC so I just learned.

Thanks again.......

Beej, how can I wire my guitar so that I play better?

In a few years there will be chip installations. Not into the guitar, into our brain. We'll download whatever song or part we wish to play, and our fingers will do their best to keep up. Those which are deemed inferior will be upgraded, from the fingers upwards to the central nervous system - providing vastly improved motor skills. Talk about chops!
