Hello Everyone,

My name is Joe and I just purchased an Ernie Ball Axis - natural quilt top in January. It was a rough few months waiting for just the right guitar :) I absolutely love the guitar, it's everything I expected and more. I can really see why everyone speaks so high of Ernie Ball MusicMan instruments and products in general. This is my first time posting, but, I read the forums quite often and have learned alot from reading the various threads and messages. I've been playing guitar for almost a year after having not played for almost 12 years.

Moving on to my question, has anyone ever fixed the fret buzz using the fine tuners? I broke the high e-string yesterday and went ahead and replaced it, but noticed buzzing past the 12th fret. I tightened the fine tuner about 1/8 - 1/4 turn and all is well. I noticed that the saddles pivot on the tremelo block and I was thinking that it's possible the fine-tuner was out a little too much and perhaps the angle of the string sitting in the saddle was off by a hair, does this sound like a possibility? Does this sound crazy?

Please excuse me if this sounds a little silly. This is my first guitar with a Floyd Rose and actually my first "real nice" guitar in general.

The guitar was setup wonderfully at the factory and even checked over by the luthier at my dealer when I bought it. It's plays great and has nice, low action, I've only run into the one minor problem.

I've added an attachment, from what I understand, if there's no picture the guitar doesn't exist. :)

Thanks for your help and insight.

Joe

nice guitar :) and warm welcome to you

I never experienced buzz while I had my Axis with fine tuning, I'm not an expert but you may have a little of truss rod adjustment to do...but wait the confirmation of some of the experts around here :)

Welcome :) That's a great looking guitar, i personally have never heard of the fine tuners buzzing, it sounds like you need a slight truss rod adjustment. The Axis guitars are awsome you will love it.

I'll say you bought an Axis:eek:

That's one of the best naturals I've seen in a while. Congrats. And welcome to the forums.

If the shade of your guitar is really as light as the picture makes it look, I WANT IT. That thing is beautiful.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and advice. I am really pleased with the guitar. Before the Ernie Ball, I was playing a Squire Strat and an Ibanez acoustic; man, what a difference. The dealer I purchased this from is about a 1/2 mile from work. I was constantly going their on my lunch hours to check out the new guitars when they arrived; I would even drag my wife along. :) I'm lucky I was able to jump on this one when it arrived.

The only reason I was thinking of the fine tuners is because it seems to happen when it was adjusted almost dialed-in and then after I replaced the string and dialed-out the tuner.

Adjusting the truss rod myself makes me a little nervous. I've heard of the damage that can be done if done too much and incorrectly. Although, from what I've read on message boards, it doesn't seem like it's terribly hard if you have a good understanding of the procedure and make the adjustments in very small increments.

Thanks again,

Joe

Joe the truss rod adjustment is really easy on EBMM guitars check the faq on the Ernieball website I'm sure you can make it.

Ask your music shop to do it for you, 1 mn and the buzz will be gone :)
