Question about my Music Man S.U.B. X02 4-String Bass

If you hit it REALLY hard it will rattle simply because SRs (and the various versions thereof) generally have fairly low action.

Have you had the bass set up?

I'm not sure what you mean - I purchased it from the Guitar Center - this is the active eq version, it takes the 9 volt battery also.

I have no idea how the guitar is setup right now. Setting up mainly involves adjusting string height, bridge settings, the trussrod, and pickup height. Take it to a guitar tech and have him set it up for you.

The basses are set up extremely well, but if you want to hit it really hard, a low action (strings close to the fretboard) is not your thing. It will - and does - rattle. The way Ernie Ball sets up their basses when they leave the factory, is usually with pretty low action, which makes the basses excellent for funky stuff and slap grooves.
So... just take it to a luthier, tell him about it, and he'll definitely help you out.

Midtown,

If you want us to take a look you can call our tech dept and we can take a look at your bass here at the factory. If there is something wrong we will fix under warranty. Please call (866)823-2255x209

Thanks

Derek

It might be set up fine once it leaves the factory, but if you got it at Guitar Center, the chances are someone has messed around with the action or the string hight.
