I believe he used the Road King Series II alone for his Suspended Animation and G3 Tour.

The Road King II has the Lonestar Cleans, which head he uses with his standard gear.

If he was using the Mark IIC+ I would imagine it'd be for the Rhythm.

as of right now I didnt think John used the RK's at ALL any more. He uses a Mark IV for rhythm and leads live. In the studio, particularly on the new album he used a IIC+ for the leads and a Mark IV for rhythm. He even used a Mark V, but only for a 20-30 second solo on The Count of Tuscany at the end of the song.

For the first part of the current tour, his rig was 2 Mark IV heads, and a IIC+ head. No Lonestar this time around. When they started the North American Leg, he got his Mark V rig.

Where did the 2290 go? What's he using for delays? Looks like he simplified things.

On one of the video interviews with John at the Mesa site he shows a BOSS DD-3 on his actual pedal board. It's among the tuner, I THINK, as the only pedals on his board and not in the rack.

I'm not so sure though, my memory has been failing me lately.

He was using the 2290 before mainly for his chorusing and for his 7ms split. He's using a TC Electronic 1210 now for the chorusing it seems and he's probably using one of those 3 TC M3000's for his delays/reverbs.

OMG!

I am extremely jealous that you have those photos!!! Do you have any up close photos? Of say his rhythm/lead channels? Maybe.....of his EQ settings? I have been struggling with my Mark V to get a nice petrucci lead tone...of course, I don't have the money to buy all the rest of that stuff, but, as close as can be is always best! That lead tone is just so...perfect!

So if Petrucci uses a Road King and a Mark II C+ on an album is he using the Road King for rhythm and the Mark II C+ for his lead work?

Live for the G3 tour, John used two RKI heads. On the album Suspended Animation, John used a RKI and a Mark IIC+.

I know.

So, my original question was what does he use the IIC+ for?

for the original question:
i think he used the MIIC+ for rhythm. as far as i know, john used only the orange-channel of the RK1, which was set to "vintage" and the amp was set to "tube tracking" and not for "silicon diodes".
while using the RK on tour with Dream Theater, he allways had a Lonestar head as well in his rig for the clean sound.
for the solos, he pushed the RK orange channel with different overdrive pedals, like the boss SD-1, MXR ZW-44 (which was in his rack a long time), some modified TS models.

for the G3 Tour he used this rig:
