hi, I know similar thread was posted before but I didn't manage to find straight answer. So I have a question:

How does the Silo neck compare to the F****R New American Series neck?? I played strat and it was to thick and fat (if you understand my bad English:)) for me, I just can't play it. I am looking for sth between some ibanez (cant play that either - to thin). I am a newbie in guitars specifications so I dont know what this all radius and things like that mean. I would be grateful for any feedback, thx

Hi Philip,

I have a Silhouette. To compare with an American strat, I think they are almost the same, but the Silhouette's frets work and playability perform better IMO. Maybe you need to try a JP6, super comfortable.

Philip - I have a Silhouette Special; the neck is narrower at the nut than a modern American Fender; it also has a bit more taper than a modern American Fender. To me, the back of the neck is closer to a '62 Reissue Strat than an American Series. However, that being said it is definitely "fatter" in depth than an Ibanez (granted I never liked the Wizard or even the Jem neck from Ibanez; I preferred the neck on the 540 Radius model which was modified into the neck on the Satriani signature). My favorite Fender has been the '62RI, so I really love the neck on my Silo Special. As Freeman said, it has much better fretwork than the average modern Fender but has a similar radius (Silo/Silo Special are 10" radius; modern Fender is 9.5" radius and vintage Fender is 7.25 radius).

While not my favorite neck, if you're looking for something in-between the Ibanez and the modern Fender I would follow Freeman's advice and try out the JP6.

thx for the reply, I also never liked those wizard ultra thin necks, I played JS series model and it was much better. The disadv. of the Pet is that it has wider fretbord and I would like to have strings very close to each other because my hands aren't very big. Also pups config is not so great for me( I would prefer H-S-H config). Hmmm I must think

Don't let the size of your hands dictate which neck profile you'll prefer...I have small hands and I play 7 string guitars, with 3 very different profiles.

I believe you'll be happy with the Silo's profile and I think the JP6's profile will be to thin...how do I know...well I had two Silos, and I have a JP7...now unless the profile changes drastically form a seven to a six, then I assume I am correct.

The Silos neck, felt to me, quite thin...at that time I was playing a Wolfie also, and that was like a baseball bat.

I tired an Axis but for me the neck felt to tiny, width wise. This is one reason why I prefer 7 strings...wider neck.

I don't find the Silo's neck to be as wide or rounded as the F'er.
The Silo is much more comfortable and accessible in my opinion. I'm not just saying that because I like EB.

thx guys, I know I can count on you :) My only problem is to find the best EBMM model for me (and then earn the money for it;) ). I ve played all other brands and one word describes them all: S**T ;) sorry for that but for me other brands are just mass produced guitars without a soul. For the same money I have custom made guitar from Polish luthier and it's blows away all those guitars from mid-range price. Now I would like to buy a professional guitar and EBMM seems to me the only choice, thx guys
