Question about single coils.

Are the single coil pickups on the HS basses (Bongo or otherwise) fairly quiet?

How would you compare them to a typical Jazz pickup?

My H/SC wasnt noisy at all. To be honest, Ive never heard any noise at all from either pickup.

The SC on the Bongo is cool for getting a strong P"ish" tone when soloed, and when used with the humbucker, the growl is fantastic.

Ill also add that the punch of the H/SC is more refined than the Dual H, but seems to be bit more responsive. That make sense?

My SC is dead quiet... And surprisingly full-bodied!

I've no experience with an HH... But I am finding my HSp has significant growl to it when called for!

There is some but not much. It took A/B-ing a HH and a SC/H to notice it.

There was talk of a new SC with a different winding scheme being introduced into production. Supposedly dead quiet. Haven't heard much more about it. Maybe BP or others from EB have more to say.

None - or at least what I'd consider "none".

Funny thing is as I approached the computer with the bass the hum came on big time. Stepped back about three feet - gone!

My Bongo was shipped mid-October...

Don't get me wrong. The SC is quiet. So quiet, I didn't notice the hum until I got an HH. It has taught me that quiet is relative.
