Has anyone tried the EB stainless steel super slinky stings in a 9-42 gauge and are they comparable to the normal ones?
My fingers sweat a lot and if I don't constantly wipe the strings down they rust up very quickly.
I assume the stainless would not rust so easily. Is this a fair assumption?

Yeah GB,

I've never had the opportunity to try the Stainless! Not sure how they would sound compared to my "Pure Nickel Classic Rock Slinks."

My hands seem to sweat pretty good too, but my strings don't really "turn" for quite a while.

And, usually I use that as an indication - for a "fresh strings" request by my guitar - which I don't mind because I love "fresh strings".

By the way I buy them by the "case of 25 sets":)

Thanks TNT.
In answer to my own question I am told that the stainless steel strings can be very hard on your frets -makes sence.
So maybe I'll just order another big box full and change them more regularly.

The stainless sets have quite a different tone than pure nickels or nickel wound. If it's just a sweat issue, and trying to make your strings last a little longer ... I'd say just wipe 'em down after you play. You could use a regular cloth or our Wonder Wipe string cleaner. It's kinda the same idea of brushing your teeth before you go to bed. You don't want all that sweat and grime sitting on your teeth all night long ...

or your strings ;)

Yes, stainless will probably sound brighter than the nickel plated wrap, and definitely brighter than the pure nickel wrap. I go through strings alot too, but I don't want the overly bright tone, so I use the pure nickels, and I wipe them and change them often.

Hey, Jodi. It's just the wrapped strings and not the plain ones that are stainless, right? Tyler and I were having this discussion forever ago. This post rang a bell in my dusty belfry.

Bennifer,
the plain strings are steel. Stainless Steel sets have the same plain strings as the Slinky sets. The difference is the wrap.

Mikey,
you should try it ... it's kind of like wearing braces.

Sorry Jodi,
I had braces when I was young and didn't like it at all! :D:(

Have a nice day!
