Question: Can a compensated nut be lowered?

Greetings,

I have a 2013 StingRay and I plan to have my local shop set it up including lowering the height at the nut, but I'm wondering if this type of nut can be filed like a normal one.

I lowered the slots on mine.

The last time I altered one I removed the whole thing and shaved a tad off the bottom rather than filing individual slots but it depends on how far out it is
