Question Question for AL Owners

Ok all you AL owners want to know what you do about strings.

Since I received my BFR AL it is all I have been playing ( well with the exception of the Luke a little) been banging the snot out of it actually.

So the question is since the AL comes with a Custom size string steup, do you buy the indivdual gauges in singles when it comes time to change strings or do you use something else and if you do did\do you have to do any type of set up.

Need to know cause I am wearing out the strings PDQ

I restring with a regular set of RPS 10's
The only difference is the G from the factory is a 16 while the G in a standard set of Slinky 10's is a 17. The rest of the strings are the same. No change to the set up for me at all.

Use whatever strings float your boat. I have 9s on mine.

What are the standard gauges on the BFR AL? They're not 10's from the factory are they?

I say get the gauges you want. It's just another reason to re-intonate the beauty and fiddle with it some more.

maybe it's the neck or maybe it's that G string, or maybe both, but the Al is phenomenal in its stock format. I've never experimented w/ switching individual string gauges and the Al is the 1st guitar I've had that does. Since this is perfection, I sticking w/ it. Usually stores sell 2 for 1 packs so that's what I've been doing. If anyone knows a cheaper way let me know. Are there EBMM Rps Al sets? If I go to the string factory can I get this special set? It would be cool to have it available just on their webstore----will have to check.

I believe that my AL 2006 LE has 9s on it. I can`t say whether they are original as I bought the guitar used, but I suspect they are the factory strings as the guitar seemed like it had hardly been played when I got it. I usually use a light top -heavy bottom set that runs from10 to 52, but when the time comes to change, I think I will stick to the 9s on it cuz it just plays so nice as is! I don`t notice a lack of tone or solid feel with this setup like I usually do with 9s, although I DID replace the 9s on my AXIS SS Rosewood with a standard set of 10s last week and that guitar feels great......rock solid and FAT SOUNDING.....eeeeee-haaaawwwww!

RPS Slinky 10p-13p-16p-26-36-46 considered custom guage since the 16 G is lighter than a standard 17 G in the regular RPS slinky 10 set. The others are the same.

Yup - the AL ships with RPS - I have tried the stainless steel strings too - which were great!!
(knocked spots of the Dadarrio SS strings which for me just did not float my boat.

Scooby, your post made me laugh and well maybe a little truth to it, but I really did want to know if anyone went the individual string route or other strings they use with thier AL's, normally I would put 9-42 on everything because thats "what floats my boat" as Beej said, but because this AL plays so perfect and sounds so great dont want to mess it up.

I am just going to buy some RPS regular slinkys and then the 16 individual, so if anyone needs some individual 17 let me know and when I get them you can have them
