Hey there Chief,
Just wondering....have you guys ever built an instrument and when it got done said,"I can't sell this beauty"? I would have so much trouble working there.....it's like that Michelin commercial where the tire guy is on the assembly line crying every time a tire goes out, then he turns and smiles at the next one, cries as it goes, etc.

Another note, what happens to the prototypes? Do you guys give 'em out to crew members or (shudder) destroy them?

(Sorry had to chime in)

Can only tell you.

At Volvo cars R&D it´s a day of joy the day we get rid of our prototypes :D
And we never get to lay our hands on the production vehicles.
Hmmm wonder why

It´s probably like you can´t see the forrest because there are to many trees in the way.

But with EB basses i can clearly see your point. No wonder Dude lick´s the basses before they leave. They sure are lovely!

First off the dude will lick anything.....He really likes bicycle seats in the desert sun. (but thats a whole other subject for a completely different forum.

Yeah, you get kind of dull to it after a awhile. The only one can remember is the 99thh evh with a radical pink top.....I just kind of play what they give me...Dudley just called yesterday wanting to know what I want to play at the open house and I said just bring something....

We keep most prototypes...The design stage is the most enjoyabel part of this gig.

By the way for the open house I have a single hum bongo (dont know what color) a six string bass, a rosewood axis super sport, koa topped proto/with rosewood neck with mm 90s, and a walnut top rosewood neck proto axis ss with humbuckings. I may break out the Ukelele for a solo or two.

Oh?

Like in the proper-bass-with-an-extra-string-either-side sense?

Some pics of these from the Open House would most definitely be appreciated.

Hopefully you guys start a thread with all the Open House pics.....I'm sure it's in the works.
