No problem at all. I'm gassing too. It sounds so damn good and has a lot of versatility. The mid control is also very useful. On many basses, the mid control doesn't do much or what it does doesn't sound good. Not so with the SR4 HH.
I know. I know. Played one just last night at GC. The neck is perfect. Balance perfect. Fit and finish perfect. Then you plug it in. I really like the neck pickup soloed with some mids cut. Great fingerstyle sound. I've played an HH SR5 and while I like those, the preamp and pickups in the SR4 sound a little warmer and more musical to my ears. (I think the preamp is different and the pickups use different magnets.) Fortunately, it was blue and I don't like blue basses. But I think the black one with black headstock that appears at the top of the page in the rotating ads is perfect. I'm thinking it would be a nice christmas present.
I have slapped many people during our gigs and the neck pup was no hinderance whatsoever. (sorry, I had to get it out. ).
On a serious note, an accomplished funk buddy of mine has played my bass (much better than I, might I add...) and he never stops going on about how comfortable it is. He loves it.
