So, I was watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions last night and noticed something very interesting about Jeff Beck. Before his performance he covered his hands in what looked like baby powder. Anyone know the reason for this? I assume it's to keep his hands from getting sweaty.

correct me if I'm wrong, i believe it helps him slide around and also keeps his hands from taking too much abuse since he doesn't use a pick (if at all)

I think it's kind of on the same lines as the late great Jaco Pastorius "greasing" his hands before playing. It made him really slide well on his fretless. Sweat seems to slow the hands and fingers when playing; at least that's what happens to me...

Actually it's baby powder. It helps him stay fresh smelling thru his entire gig. You know how some of these clubs we play in smell!! You wonder what they have under the stage(??)
