Hey guys,

I've been goofing around with my Mark V for a few days now and I still love it. But my question here is: is it me, or does the tone change somewhat when you switch the effects loop to "Hard Bypass"?

Just curious.

Thanks for your help.

Switching the effects loop to bypass definitely does change the tone. It happened when I had my V as well. It seemed to actually make the tone better to my ears.

When you hard bypass the loop, it takes an entire section of the circuit out including a 12ax7 tube. It will definitely change the tone.

I keep my loop on all the time since I'm using a G-System and I love the tone that way, but with the loop off it really sounds killer.

It wouldn't be switchable if it did not make a difference. They went out of their way to add it so that if you don't need the loop you can avoid the inherent tone suck that comes with loops.
