Question for the Petrucci specialists

Hello folks

I am trying to play some Dream Theater songs and it appear that John Petrucci uses a lot of tuning.
Several songs on Train of Thought are played in C tuning (C F Bb Eb G C) I believe. Does John use a 6 strings (tuned "down") or a 7 strings (tuned "up") ?
If he is using a 6 strings, what strings gauges does he use ?
