Question: Morse Music Man (Standard)

Hey there,

I have been thinking about getting a Morse standard for some time.
I've never had the chance to play one around here.

On Lick Library there's an awesome Morse interview.

When he plays a few examples for the interviewer, his guitar seems really resonant and loud - even though it's unplugged.

My local Long and McQuade at a Y2D a couple of years ago.
I went to the store to try it out a few times, but the guitar didn't really ring very well acoustically.

Is Steve's guitar an exception to the rule?

To be honest I never played another Morse than mine. Mine is resonant. Not as much as my AL but very resonant compared to what I played before
edit: guitars in shops are in an awufl condition sometimes. Maybe a proper setup and a set of new strings helps?

My Morse is not more resonant than my ASS. But keep in mind that Steve has a very strong pick attack. Thus even unplugged, you can hear him when he plays.

I just bought a standard Morse and must say my first impression is that the guitar indeed isn't as resonant as my other EBMM guitars. Played unplugged, that is. Maybe it's the type of wood? But no worries, when you plug it in you won't think about that anymore. Especially the overdriven tones are excellent. Go for it!

I know it's an awesome guitar, I just spend a lot of my time practicing on unplugged guitars.

So, the resonance of the body is something that always comes to mind.

My EBMM Morse was very resonant, but it really didn't affect the tone when I plugged into an amp that much.

Mine is the same way.
Steve has a pretty hard attack that makes things pop out unplugged-I think anyway

Haven´t played the Standard Morse, but being it made to match Steve´s needs, it must be an amazing instrument.

I can only speak about the Y2D, and it was one hell of a resonant guitar, it was vibrant all the way.

Poplar is a very resonant wood. Mine is quite loud acoustically. Although the Y2D I used to have was not as resonant as my standard Morse.
