I have just received my Stingray BFR Redwood today and the finish is beautiful however I normally place my thumb on the back pickup which is not a problem when you have a pick guard but I'm afraid that my thumb nail over time with scratch up the finish. I thought I'd place some transparent plastic just above the pickup but I wanted to see if anyone else has a better idea or is this paranoid.. Just curious.

This bold-ed I think!

I just got new reflex bass, there's no pick guard too, but I'm not worried about possible damage to paint job around the pickups!
OK, I must admit that I cut my right thumb nail very deep..., so try to follow my way! ;)

I would NOT stick ANYTHING to that FINE finish. Trying to remove that tape in 10 years might do MORe damage than your fingernail. JMHO :)

Oh and congrats but the rules are:

NO PICS = NO BASS :)

Thanks Guys, working on my profile, pics to follow, newby! My wife found a antique furniture store that have 12mm round transparent disks that fit perfectly between the screw nubs on the back pickup..
