Ladies & Gents, I'm going to record some backing tracks for myself using my fancy sparkle sterling and I was looking for a little advice:

I'm using Logic Pro and a PreSonus Firepod as the interface. As I don't have a bass amp, I want to record the sterling direct. Now, since it has a preamp, do I run it directly into the line level inputs or the mic/instrument side?

Also, any tips for eq to get me a nice thick bas sound would be appreciated...

Mic/Instrument. Despite having a pre in the bass, they still put out instrument level - nowhere near line level. The advantage of the active pre in the bass is that the pickups are not loaded by the head (lower impedance source), and you get better tone control. Not that much of a level difference active vs. passive, but that varies between brands/models as well.
