Hi to all.

Recently I noticed that finish on my beloved JP7 started to be just little bit scratchy.
I play classical guiatr and have long nails,so probably in a few years all finish will fell off.

I will let my luthier to do the job,and let him shape blank piece to fit the guitar

I`m kind a torn between classic clear acrylic plastic and use very small screws:
New Pickguard Blank 9" x 15 5" x 125" Clear Acrylic | eBay

or self-adhesive made from mylar:

Self Adhesive Acoustic Pickguard Material Clear 13" x 10" | eBay

Tell me what you think would be better idea to choose between those two?
To me self adhesive looks like more neat and easier thing to do,but I`m not sure will it damage the finish in some way since its self adhesive?

Kind regards.

Hi,I never heard of it to be honest. They talking here that it can also damage finish on some instruments, and they recomending only to be used while playing, and taking of everytime...

I will think of it,and purchase one cause its very cheap, for my acoustic guitars.

But if it will be no harm with adhesive one,it would be much better solution thou, cause once done I it aways stays there.

I was about to suggest the same as Pete. While I didn't know such thing as "Guitar Armor" existed, I was about to suggest buying one of those tablet/iPad screen protectors. Those are self adhesive but they use static instead of a normal chemical/glue-based adhesive. Plus, you can do it yourself! I used that for many years on my Sterling JP50 and never had any problems.
I've also used traditional adhesive protectors and they were a pain if/when you wanted to remove them as most of the adhesive residue would stay on the finish and the only way to remove it (for me) was by using a cloth as if I was cleaning the guitar, but applying a bit more force, and believe me... It took more than an hour when I had to do that.
Best of luck!

Well if I put something adhesive or classic acrylic plastic with screws,or adhesive Mylar it would be for lifetime. No removing there.
But if I decide I wanted to,the only reasonable way would be with "Guitar Armor".
