Hey Everyone,

I have a couple of questions about my EVH.

1. Can I keep the whammy bar on the guitar with the case closed? Does it hurt the guitar any? (I have the fenderish style EB case that came with the guitar in 91).

2. What gauge of stings do most people put on their EVH or AXIS. I am use to 10`s and think I want to put them on. Do you have to adjust the neck with 10`s on it?

Thanks,

Tobin

Hi Tobin
My AL is fine with the trem left in,
Try this - leave the trem in - strum the guitar and close the lid.
Notice any change in pitch? - if not you'll be fine.

I don't like things rattling around in the case so prefer to leave the bar inserted.

I'm sure EVH owners will chime in soon.

Cheers

Isn't the case designed to have space for the trem and not depress the bridge? Old EVH cases were like this, as are Axis cases.

As for 10's, you'll probably have to tighten the trem springs a bit, and possibly adjust the neck a little after a bit.

you should be fine leaving the trem arm on

i prefer 9s on my EVH, but that is just me...10s should be ok, you will probably have to add a 3rd spring and do a slight truss rod adjustment

good luck!!

Hi mate. Trem always inserted. 9's, used to play 9-38 (old Ed's gauge), now it's 9-42 and thinkin' on going to 10's.

The original EB VH strings were 009-040 with a 015 g string. Still have a pack of those. But I never felt they were that much better balanced. Go for the Super Slinkys, best choice. But put on what you feel is the best for you not what some endorser or the ^manufacturer puts on. The guitar is high quality and can handle every gauge and you can always go back. Try and error.
I even shimmed the pickups once to get more bass out of it......well went back after ten minutes;) It´s perfect like it is. Fool around with string gauges unleast you find your set.
I have different gauges and brands on every single guitar I have, but most of them EB Strings (puh that was close ......saved!)

Hope that helps.
Good luck
