Hi,

I am new to the forum however I have two Stingrays... a 4 and 5. I am coming to grips with the fact that I am just not a 5 string guy and considering parting with my 5'er and buying another 4 string.

With that said I wanted to solicit some feedback on the HS configuration. Specifically is there anyone out there that would say that the HS configuration is that one bass that can do it all. I'm seeking more vintage tone out of this next instrument and less of the traditional Stingray sound. I did play an HS a while back in a local GC and was pretty dazzled at its tonal variety.

After owning many basses the Stingray feels just right to me so I'd prefer to stay on that platform.

Haven't played the Stringray HS, but recently owned (and just bought back-woot!) a Sterling HS. I like them very much. With the single coil up front you can certainly get the old school tone you're looking for. Don't knaow about "one size fits all" as far as the bass arsenal goes- I'm a firm believer in "the more the merrier" ;), but the HS is a sweet combo.

There's a nice looking one currently for sale on TB : Musicman Stingray HS 4 String - TalkBass Forums
