I realize there's a whole sticky thread on Trading/Selling, but I did not want to congest those particular threads, so I thought I'd ask here...again if this is a no-no, please delete, and accept my apologies.

What I am asking is how do trades work, what is the actual process, and whoever has traded guitars with someone else on the forums, please let me know how it went, thanks!

As I understand it ... you each give each other stuff.

Yea what he said:D OK joking aside, well kind of:p, trading is easy just have to have a decent amount of trust, I have done it, even a couple times with you hosers:)

PM if you have any other questions, I am the former CFB:eek:

the only thing i've traded was my money for someones guitar... now that i think of it... it was the artists formely known as CFB and of course i've traded sarcastic postings and comments that don't really contribute to much...

but these guys are pretty trust worthy and would trade with anyone here if i were in the position to trade...

Yeah, it all seems ok... just make sure its someone who has been around for a little bit. I would not do it with someone who has 25 posts and has been here for a month, unless I knew him (or her) or there was a pretty good reference from a long time poster. But most people here are pretty cool and have been around long enough that you can trust them. However, if something sets off your inner warning you may want to think carefully about doing business with that person... basically just common sense and all should be fine.

I have traded many, many times for music gear. Trust is key, check any references they offer. I've never traded on this forum, but would feel very comfortable with the people here. These boards seem to have much more mature people hanging around than most others. Every time I have traded, we were each responsible for our own shipping. Some people might ask for you to ship and send tracking info before they do, but I personally wouldn't do that as I have many references here and elsewhere. Hope this helps some. Heck, I got my JPX in a trade!

Thanks for the input guys, I guess I'm just paranoid. I would have to seriously consider the real value of the guitar and insurance claims versus the risk of shipping it as a gift. I agree with the trust thing. I think I have enough to start weighing in, thanks!

One other thing to consider is just how expensive it is, if you're trading across the border. Do your homework on shipping fees, brokerage & duty. So often people are surprised when they get the bill. (Which is why I wait for trips to the States to do that kind of thing ...)

Well that was one of my concerns. I will be heading to New Orleans for an IES Lighting Conferance in September, might have to check if anyone is selling their balls around that time!
