when are they coming out and will this be a limited edition thing? also what colours are available? rosewood and maple or both...or neither?!

im heavily considering getting one of these as they're offering the seafoam green and the string mutes are highly enticing to me, as i heard upright bass sounds can be achieved out of it, that way i dont have to learn a new instrument/shell out 3k on a new bass.

also what is the price going to be?

Sort of. More like an upright than say, a bass without mutes. But not really. A fretless with mutes is more so, but you ain't gonna be getting an upright bass sound out of a 34" scale electric fretted bass.

But you'll be slightly closer...

I was at the BP Live event and although I don't remember exactly what was paid for THOSE instruments, I would say around $1500-$1600 is a good ballpark figure.

Actually, I asked what the upcharge would be on a figured neck and I seem to remember it brought the price from $1450 to $1600.

If you're after an upright-ish sound, go for a Stingray with the piezo bridge option. When I play mine over the end of the fingerboard, running on just the piezos, it sounds very db-like. And I'm a professional db player, too!

I was hoping these would be around £12-1300 here in the UK when they come out. I assume they're going to be a lot more expensive, though :(

Without getting into specific pricing I'd like to point out that an EBMM "limited" usually carries a VERY small price premium (if any) over the "standard" pricing for that model. They are DEALS. Obviously something like a BFR with a sucky top, unique color, and rosewood neck will cost more but if you look at the yearly LEs and guitars where a special/limited/unique finish is the main difference the pricing is always more than fair.

Gimme a Trans White/Tort/RW Board with the standard neck, please.

I can't say what I paid for mine but I will say that with next day air shipping from CALI to NC the price was a bit over $1800...A BARGAIN in my opinion! I have spent much more than that on basses that were not in the same league as the Fiesta Red Classic I have! It is simply one of the best basses I have ever had in my hands period. Everything about it is perfect! This is THE TONE I lusted after for so long...Don't hesitate to get one as soon as they become available! I want another one but I am afraid I would jsut play this one all the time...I sold ALL my other basses and ONLY have the Classic now...That is a BIG stretch for me...I have always had at least 5 or 6 basses at a time and at one time when I had plenty of room I had 83 basses and guitars....

THIS ONE SLAYS THEM ALL!

Peace,

T

i bought a 5 dollar muting device at my local guitar shop, its amazing how close it is to the upright sound, just on a 3 eq with a maple neck without a piezo even. i always play over the end of the fingerboard cause its less tense there with the flat wounds and sounds better in general, discovered that while i was playing on a HH with the top pickup off but i was using the top pickup as an anchor for my thumb. but it sounds amazing! im so glad they're bringing these back again cause they are wonderful sounding and put the stingray beyond its already on another level status.

I researched the H-E-double hockey sticks out of this and concluded the closest I was going to get sans doghouse was electric upright bass (EUB). So I got a used on on TB. Lots of fun despite the 41" scale. Even so, the EUB guys tell you (and I believe them), nothing can achive a true, even cheap, DB sound and the EUBs, while close, still have voices of their own and their own "sound". But I took a leap and am having fun.
